Twice exceptionality refers to the combination of high potential (giftedness) with some deficit, disability or disorder. Given the different possible combinations of strengths and weaknesses, this is a heterogeneous group, so that recognizing the particularities of these children requires a perspective that considers both their weaknesses and their potential. In this context, a review of the national and international literature was conducted in the CAPES, Scielo, Pepsic, and Psycinfo electronic databases, considering the period between 2014 and 2025. A total of 52 empirical articles were selected. The review followed the PRISMA-P methodology. The results indicate that most studies were conducted in the United States (36.54%), and mainly in the educational environment (88.46%). The most frequently investigated combinations were AH/SD with autism spectrum disorder (26.74%) and learning disorders (20.93%). It is concluded that, although the topic has gained interest, there is still a shortage of empirical research on the subject.
