Abstract

This article aims to discuss the importance of geopolitical knowledge to build teaching strategies that allow students a better understanding of contemporary phenomena of territoriality. For a long time this knowledge has been neglected in basic education, much more by prejudice than by a series of contributions that analysis could take in training young people. Currently, due to the complexity of global phenomena, geopolitics has gained importance as essential knowledge in the interpretation and construction of a geographical reading of the world. The examples of the importance and use of this knowledge that we present here results of experiments carried out in the Higher Education and Basic Education and aims to show the urgent necessity of a rapprochement between geopolitics and geography education.
