This work implemented interventions to improve the quality of life of the person attended in a establishment for mental deficients in two stages: the course and the implementation of methodological strategies. The objective of the course was to inform and to promote reflexion about the part of teachers in the functional ecological aproach. Before the course, the teachers wrote about their conceptions of special education. The results showed that their conceptions were concentrated in the student’s behaviors, and not about their pedagogical exercises that make the learning of their students possible. In the end of the course, they made plans for work with the curricular areas of the aproach. The objective of the second part was to promote to access to new kinds of work, giving instructions for the teachers to be able to: a) evaluate the student’s behavioral repertoire and, b) make plans to work in the years, months and weeks. The probationers instructed seven teachers how to do to aplly the Inventory of acomplishments. With the results of the inventory, the teachers made individual and collective plannings. The teachers had some difficulties in seeing the student ́s gains in a long-time run. Because this was implemented basic themes for teaching the students, with plannings for the two next months. The results of this project permitted us conclude that the continuing formation to special education teachers must involve the acquisition of new knowledge and also the reflexion about their own daily practice. This work showed that we must recognize the difficulties, changing it in small objectives that could be attained. The joint and punctual action was essential for the success of this work.Downloads
