Abstract

This research aims to propose a geomorphological classificationof the municipality of Quaraí-RS, by analyzing the different patterns of organization of the landscape looking for a (co) relationship between theforms of relief and areas of occurrence of agate and amethyst. The basis fortopographic mapping were letters, the radar and satellite images and fieldwork that allowed the removal of the physical aspects of thegeomorphological mapping, and map the locations of Agate and amethyst. The classification of images, the intersection of data and preparation ofmaps were made using the Application SPRING 4.3. The methodologyallowed to establish a significant relationship between the occurrence ofAgate and amethyst with the forms of relief, it was possible to see that theamethyst are generally located in high Coxilha, with altitudes around 200meters, height of rough amethyst found in Artigas. On the Agate is foundin most soft reliefs in Coxilha lower plains and close the stream and thecity, at altitudes ranging from 80 to 140 meters. The work has establishedtwo hypotheses on the mineral occurrence in the city, the first being theoccurrence of two separate spills where the amethyst would be formedlater to Agate, therefore the leakage of amethyst would be more recent. The second to occurrence a single stroke changed very where the mineralsoccur, too, in colúvios.
