Abstract

The interest in secondary metabolites has grown tremendously in recent years due to its wide use as raw material in the preparation of biologically active substances. So based on that great interest was held this work in order to evaluate the potential of the ethanolic extract of fungicide seed Pachira aquatica (25 mg.mL-1) on Fusarium sp. To obtain the crude extracts, the plant material was left in maceration with 95% ethanol, during seven days, after this, the solvent was evaporated and ethanolic extract was obtained. Biological assays were performed with colonies of Fusarium sp. The results were subjected to analysis of variance (ANOVA) and compared by Tukey test (P£ 0.01) growth was evaluated for four and six days after inoculation of the colonies. As a result, it was observed that average diameters were 24 and 27.8 mm, for the genus Fusarium sp. and 64 and 67.4 mm for the control treatment. Sporulation was assessed on day 6 after inoculation of the fungus and obtained a development of 43 conídios.mL-¹ Fusarium sp., when treated with the extract of the seeds and 110 conídios.mL-¹, to control. The ethanol extract of the seeds significantly inhibited mycelial growth, sporulation and was considered toxic to Fusarium sp.
