Abstract

This article discusses the importance of oral and written narrative for the maintenance of tradition and history of each one of us, in a society that seems to valorize the information more than the stories lived and told. It stresses the need, at school, of the teachers to read stories to children from early childhood education to boys and girls love to the world of literature. The text also contains situations en countered in schools that show the value of reading and the magic that literature provides in the lives of children.

Jacqueline de Fatima dos Santos Morais, UERJ

Graduação em Pedagogia pela Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Mestrado em Educação pela Universidade Federal Fluminense, Doutorado em Educação pela Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Atualmente é professora adjunta da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, atuando na Faculdade de Formação de Professores e no Instituto de Aplicação Fernando Rodrigues da Silveira CAp/UERJ. É líder do Grupo de Pesquisa "Formação em diálogo: narrativas de professoras, currículos e culturas". É pesquisadora do "Núcleo de Pesquisa e Extensão Vozes da Educação História e Memória das Escolas de São Gonçalo".
