Abstract

We shall present the results of the research project Discourse genres: the theory applied to the pre-service teacher training activities, which involved undergraduates of the 3rd year in the Course of Letters, who have a significant number of hours for the Portuguese and Literature Supervised Pre-Service Teacher Training. The purpose of this research was to verify how much undergraduate students knew about the teaching object of discourse genres so that they could deal with it in their pre-service training classes. Such proposal had its theoretical foundation on texts read and discussed in the course of Pre-Service Teacher Training Methodology, namely Bakhtin (2003, 2004), Marcuschi (2008), Bronckart (2003), Dolz, Noverraz and Schneuwly (2004), among others.
