Abstract

This systematic review is a literature review on the types of social skills training for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder addressed in the specialized literature. The search for texts was performed on different platforms, such as PubMed and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). The selected articles were obtained in full and examined according to the established criteria. Different models and tools for teaching social skills were identified, including the use of music therapy, virtual tools, intervention based on peer interaction, recreational activities and traditional and structured procedures. The main skills addressed in the research were eye contact, shared attention, conversation, commenting, sharing jokes, emotion recognition and theory of mind. Research has indicated that teaching social skills to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder provides progress in this social repertoire, regardless of the teaching model applied. Therefore, this work was relevant because it brought together different studies on the same theme, and could contribute to the choice of teaching models to be applied with patients who have different repertoires and needs, especially in a clinical context.
