In the present work, the feasibility of the trunk analysis technique to describe the growth process of Astronium balansae has been determined in a twelve-year old planted stand. Using this well-know technique, it is possible to describe the diameter growth as well as the average and yearly current diameter increase for trees in the dominant and dominated layers. The results have demonstrated the validity of using such a technique to describe the specimen past growth. Moreover the results have allowed the development of high precision and well-fitted patterns to describe the current and yearly average increase. The maximium yearly current increase occurred at six years old, and the maximum yearly average was observed at ten years old for the dominant tree. Nevertheless it was not possible to determine these value for the dominated tree, because of this constant annual growth rate.
