Abstract

Odor emissions have caused discomfort and possible damage to health in populations that living around industrial areas or animal production. The bad smell can cause effects to human health such as nausea, headaches and harm the mental health of those who live there. This work addresses a case study of a bovine confinement area in the rural part of the county of Capão do Leão, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, in which some residents have reported the constant presence of odors. Thus, using the advection-diffusion equation, we calculated the dispersion of pollutants in the atmosphere, in different meteorological conditions in order to obtain results befitting with the residents’ reports.
