Philosophy undergraduates: education as poíesis.

Abstract

In 2024, the National Education Council (CNE) published Resolution CNE/CP No. 4/2024, which addresses the National Curriculum Guidelines for Teacher Training Programs, promoting a restructuring of the courses, as well as the introduction of the practical exam in the ENADE (National Student Performance Exam). The focal point of our research does not directly concern these changes, nor the dismantling caused by the High School Reform. However, when contemplating this scenario, we are faced with emerging questions: how to offer Philosophy undergraduates a solid foundation in specific content and its transposition as a pedagogical domain of content? It is at this moment that we venture to think, in the light of Aristotelian philosophy, about the methodological foundation of teaching philosophy and its practices as "poíesis" (ποίησις). This adventure has provided us with the encounter of essential aspects for the training of philosophy undergraduates in particular. We highlight: poiesis as self-production; poiesis as effect, that is, as something that is produced, manufactured by the agent; and finally, in the intrinsic relationship between the production of something and the self-production of the agent.
