The present work describe the volume per hectare, frequency and diameter distribuition and quality of the wood, in the Campo de Instrução do Exército de Santa Maria, in the locality of Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul State. Forty eight species were found. The species Nectandra megapotamica, Patagonula americana and Ficus luchnathiana showed the highest volumes. The Distribuition of frequency for diameter class was adjusted by Meyer Funtion, with a regulating constant (q) of 1,7238, normal for this type of forest. The average quality of the wood has was considered good. The volume with bark was 148,6 m3/ha corresponding to a basal area of 28,8 m²/ha.
