Abstract

This paper aimed to analyze the characteristics and results of studies published between 2012 and 2021, which discuss quality education and sustainable cities, and their relationship with the theory of collective action, democratic management, and community development. The searches, for complete articles, took place in two international databases, SCOPUS and Web of Science, in English, and in a national database, EDUBASE, in Portuguese, totaling 1.207 identified works. A systematic analysis was performed using the PRISMA method, resulting in 15 studies. The results showed that some terms have not yet been worked together and it was also evidenced that quality education combined with democratic management is predominantly worked in Brazil, since the relevant articles found were carried out and published nationally. It is concluded, however, that the terms can be allies, since collective actions contribute both to community development and to the constitution of sustainable cities, and that these actions can also be carried out at the level of education, seeking quality through means of democratic management.
