Learning is a process influenced by affective aspects, whose effectiveness is closely linked to the intensity of the emotions present in this process. In this regard, the present study conducted a detailed analysis of the relationship between affective aspects, specifically Growth Mindset and Academic Expectation, on the performance (average grades) of Brazilian students in PISA 2018. For this purpose, the Applied Research methodology was used, based on a quantitative approach, with the use of descriptive statistics to analyze the data. Data from the PISA student questionnaire was used, as well as the results obtained by the students in the exam, in the domains of reading, mathematics, and science. The results highlight a significant positive association between Growth Mindset, Academic Expectation, and the performance of students in the Brazilian context. It is concluded that the affective aspects analyzed, specifically Growth Mindset and Academic Expectation, have a significant positive influence on the academic performance of Brazilian students in PISA 2018, suggesting that interventions focused on these aspects can potentially improve school performance.
