Guidelines to guide the formulation and implementation of Design actions in University Extension

This paper discusses university extension in brazilian education. Methodologically, this work is based on literature -If Review concerning the selected theme. At first, it presents an historical view of the concept of university extension. Next, it reflects on the value of extensionist action in the design field under a dialogical perspective that seeks to overcome problems through social development. Throughout the discussion, it proposes a frame of guidelines to support extensionist actions in the field of design, concerning three groups of guidelines: General guidelines for extensionist practice; Guidelines for teaching-learning in extension; Guidelines for Design in extension, that is, design approaches more aligned to extensionist context and its values.
