EXTENSION AND SCIENCE DISSEMINATION IN PANDEMIC TIMES

Abstract

Due to the changes caused by Covid-19 pandemic in several areas, the academic context required adaptation to online versions of classes, meetings and events. This report considers Seminários Abertos das Letras, an online extension project developed in Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. This wide-ranging project started in June 2020 and offered weekly online sessions as a way to get together and to share academic research. Throughout this text are described the details about challenges faced, technological resources and tools resorted and results obtained through 34 online lectures, which happened between June 2020 and March 2021. The project has important implications for research, for teaching activities, and for the dissemination of both theoretical studies and experiences in the field of Language Arts, as it provides online and synchronous opportunities for reflections and discussions while it promotes scientific appreciation, which is essential in this period.
