Abstract

Nowadays, it is increasingly important to reflect on the possibility of improving education in schools, to promote meaningful learning, mainly in relation to mathematics’ knowledge. Based on the vision of a teacher-researcher in professional development, this report shares an experience, which illustrates the process of adaptation to the remote education system, aiming at mediating the student's meaningful learning process, considering the pandemic situation caused by the virus from Covid-19. The experience reported occurred in a public municipal school, located in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul state, which involved 32 students. The data were collected by questionnaires, printed activities and diagnostic records used during the school year. The results obtained by this experience demonstrate the actions taken by the teacher, seeking to promote meaningful learning during the remote education system, corroborating to the fact that social and economic differences have increased, as a consequence impairing the "inclusive" bias of education. Thus, we consider that future studies should investigate how the process of meaningful learning may occur in the remote context, making it necessary to review the teacher's roles, the student, the context, the teaching, learning and assessment in pandemic times.
