Translation and comments on a correspondence between G. M. Asher and C. Darwin with mentions of Schopenhauer

The present translation presents the content of a brief letter received by Charles Darwin in 1879, in which Schopenhauer is extensively mentioned, exclusively in relation to his influence by Indian philosophy and also to compassion as the main foundation of the structure of his moral thought. The authorship of the letter is Georg Michael Asher, a German jurist and likely a reader of Schopenhauer (it is important not to confuse him with David Asher, Schopenhauer's disciple). Following the translation of G. M. Asher's letter, the text includes the translation of Darwin's very brief response and also some of my own comments regarding the entire content.
