Materialism and human beings in Schopenhauer and Marx

The following text aims to deliver a modest contribution to the controversial and philosophically interesting discussion concerning possible convergencies between the philosophies of Schopenhauer and Marx. For that sake, it focuses on the traditional debate that opposes materialism to idealism, pointing out some similarities between the positions adopted by the mentioned authors on that subject and indicating the conception of human beings as a theoretical issue that determines these positions and as a significant point of convergence between their thinking.
