This paper researches the creative possibilities of the Artist’s Book, through a teaching experience applied during Art class. The classroom had students ranging from 13 to 15 years old, and was located in Garibaldi - Brazil. Having a presentation about artists who have used this medium in their productions as an inspiration and starting point, the students were invited to explore old, soon-to-be discarded books as a medium for artistic creation. This experience resulted in four artists’ books collectively developed by the students. Afterwards, they were put on show in a circulation area of the school. Through discussions in class, the implications of this experience to the students’ perception of the book as an object and institution were analysed as well.
