This article focuses on the foundations of a Decolonial Chemistry Education, aiming to confront the epistemic coloniality present in the hegemonic curriculum of the field. The methodological approach is based on an analysis grounded in the Epistemologies of the South, investigating how modern-colonial science, particularly Chemistry, has promoted epistemicide by subordinating local and traditional knowledge about matter and its transformations in different sociocultural contexts. The results indicate that the decolonization of Chemistry education requires the deconstruction of three pillars: the universalizing curriculum, the Eurocentric historical narrative, and the banking model of teaching. In contrast, principles are proposed for an intercultural pedagogical praxis based on the dialogue of knowledges, radical contextualization, and the problematization of power relations in the production of chemical knowledge. Decolonial Chemistry education is understood, in this study, as an intercultural pedagogical praxis grounded in the horizontal dialogue of knowledges and in the recognition of indigenous, quilombola, and popular epistemologies as legitimate — not as appendages of the curriculum, but as constitutive sources of a broader and critical understanding of material phenomena. It is concluded that teacher education constitutes an essential strategic axis for the construction of an emancipatory and critical Chemistry education, committed to cognitive justice and epistemic plurality.
