Gustavo Capanema: creation of the National Commission on Elementary School

TThis article aims to discuss the situation of primary education in Brazil and the actions taken to solve this problem in Brazilian Education history, with this purpose, it is investigate the creation of the National Primary Education Commission (CNEP) in Brazil during the year 1938, period that it is historically known as “Vargas Age”, in which Gustavo Capanema Filho (1900-1985), politician and Brazilian intellectual, was the headed in the Education and Health Ministry. In this paper it is presented some discussions and strategies raised in the Commission sections. It is highlighted that the individual formation, through education, was regarded as the engine for the order and nation progress in the context analyzed.Downloads
