About the Journal
Focus and Scope
The Education Journal (UFSM) has as its scope the publication of unpublished and original papers in the area of Education, resulting from scientific research and theoretical reflections on educational practices and policies. It has as a target audience students, teachers, researchers in the area of education, as well as the public interested in the area in general. It accepts articles based on theoretical or empirical research, pedagogical experiences and reviews. The journal does not accept works sent simultaneously to other journals or books. Articles may be published in Portuguese, English and Spanish and, exceptionally, in Italian, French and German.
Papers submitted via the Electronic Journal Editing System (SEER/OJS) will be sent to the President of the Editorial Board, who will submit them to the Editorial Council for verification of compliance with the journal's editorial policy and normative requirements. If it is within the norms, the paper will be sent, without identification, to at least two external referees. If there is a discrepancy, it will be sent to a third reviewer. The names of the reviewers are kept confidential.

Peer Review Process
The papers must be sent to the Chairman of the Editorial Board, via the Electronic System for Journal Publishing (SEER), which shall submit to the judgment of the Editorial Board for verification of suitability in relationship to editorial policy and fulfillment of normative requirements. The papers will be sent without identification for, at least, two external reviewers. In case of discrepancy evaluative, the texts will be sent to a third evaluated. The name of the evaluators will be kept confidential.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content due to the principle that make available freely the scientific knowledge to the public provides greater democratization of knowledge worldwide.

Journal History
The periodic Educação (UFSM)’s existence remounts from the year of 1970, when UFSM’s “Boletim Centro de Ciências Pedagógicas” (Center of Pedagogical Science Bulletin) has its first issue published. In 1978 it came to be known as “Revista do Centro de Educação” (Education Center’s Journal), and later on, in 1982, its name changed to “Revista Educação” (Education Journal) and it began working with semiannual publication. In these 44 years it marks its uninterrupted and successful trajectory, being ranked, nowadays, B1 in the educational field, with quarterly publications since 2008. This periodic publishes about 45 papers per year and, since 2000, it is also available in its online version (www.ufsm.br/revistaeducacao). Revista Educação (UFSM) can be found in several international indexers, achieving expressive visibility in the education periodical field. This journal’s scope is the publication of formerly unpublished papers on the educational field, resulting of researches and practices reflected theoretically, and it’s intended for students, teachers, researchers and people interested in the field. The editorial structure is organized by a council composed by an executive commission (internal), editorial council (external), along with section editors and an executive editor.
