Contemplating a revisit to oral sources in Mathematics Education

This article stems from a doctoral research that deliberately constituted oral sources through Oral History to develop a historiographical study. The discussions observed in that work allowed for reflection on a new movement regarding the treatment and mobilization of narratives in the fields of Oral History and Mathematics Education. This is what we refer to in this article as the "revisitação de fontes orais" (revisiting of oral sources), and this text aims to present the main potentialities of this movement for research utilizing this theoretical and methodological framework. The revisiting of oral sources, both by interviewees and the researcher, along with the mobilization of various areas in the field of memory, allows us to make new reflections on the methodological approach of Oral History. The results obtained reinforce the importance of preservation and institutional conservation of intentionally produced oral sources. This research is linked to the Oral History and Mathematics Education Group (GHOEM), and it is hoped that it can contribute to other studies within and outside this group by sharing these results.
