The nursing assistance to people with schizophrenia: an integrative review

Objective: to identify the scientific production about nursing cares to people with schizophrenia and their family. Method: this is an integrative review based on BDENF, LILACS and SCIELO data, as from the “nursing” and “schizophrenia” descriptors with a temporal delimitation of 10 years, 1999-2009. Results: after the data analysis, two thematic categories emerged: the need of nursing to invest in group approaches and the need to commit itself in actions of health education. Conclusion: the conclusion shows that there are lack in the nursing assistance to people with schizophrenia and their families, it evidences the need for planning and investment in group approaches. Beyond that, still is perceptible, the fragility related with the socioeconomic reinsertion of people with schizophrenia, denoting the need for investments and the performance of nursing staff in the health and social rehabilitation of these peopleDownloads
