The learning process for blind people: a new look for the strategies used in reading and writing

This paper aims to understand how is the learning of reading and writing of blind people, what tools and strategies are used and the challenge in face to the new technologies. The theoretical framework on the subject was based on Bueno (1993) Baptista (2000), Marcuschi (2001), Vygotsky (1983), Sousa (2014), and other authors and texts dealing with this theme. As a methodological search option has been adopted qualitative research through the bibliographic study. On the research, we identified the need to reframe the appreciation of the Braille System, and that even front of recognition of the importance and advancement of computer technologies, they are not substitutive of Braille, but complementary. In view of all the strategies used and resources present limitations in certain situations, it is necessary to have a range of opportunities for blind people to communicate, get information have access to knowledge, to be included in society and play effectively citizenship.
