Master thesis and doctoral dissertations in Special Education in the northeast region in the 1997 to 2012 period

This study had as objective to analyze theses and dissertations produced in the postgraduate programs in education of the Northeast region in the Special Education area in the 1997 to 2012 period. For the achievement of such objective the abstracts of the production in stricto sensu available in the CAPES’ Digital bank of Theses and on the Postgraduate Programs websites were analyzed aiming to identify the scientific production in the area per year and per institution as well as to verify the topics, theoretical and methodological procedures, places and subjects most searched. The research has qualitative nature and documental type. The results point that the Special Education is still a field slightly expressive in the Postgraduate Programs in the Northeast region when compared to other areas.
