Resumo

A dinâmica do sistema radicular de uma planta é de extrema importância para definições de técnicas de manejo nas áreas agrícola e florestal. A raiz, além de ter a função básica de sustentar a planta, é o meio de esta absorver água e nutrientes. Observando a importância do sistema radicular de uma planta e a escassez de estudos sobre o assunto, esta revisão tem como objetivo levantar os pontos abordados por pesquisadores da área florestal, com relação aos fatores ambientais que influenciam a produção de raízes finas, aos recursos disponíveis no solo, às variações na longevidade das raízes e nos processos de senescência e substituição das raízes finas. A dinâmica observada na rizosfera é sensível às variações edafoclimáticas, sendo que esse comportamento varia ainda em função das espécies, idade do povoamento, competição entre indivíduos, recursos disponíveis, manejo, profundidade de avaliação, competição entre espécies, entre outros.
