Abstract

The lateral diffusion coefficient σy is a critical parameter in the Gaussian plume diffusion model.

In the present work, values for the Lagrangian integral time scale, L, are obtained and it is shown that these quantities together with σy determine good theoretical values for σy. This analysis sugests that the shape of the Lagrangian autocorrelation function is independent of the stability in the low atmosphere and the L values could carry in itself the structure of the local Lagrangian turbulence.
