Abstract

This article aims to discuss the phenomenon of hate and its reverberations, trying to outline some theoretical parameters for its discussion in literary studies. The article is divided into two parts: the first discusses some theoretical dimensions that can guide questions interested in the fictional representation of hate, trying to identify motivations and materialization in sociocultural spaces; the second part seeks to illustrate its potentials based on the discussion of Doron Rabinovici’s novel Ohnehin. Set in Austria, the novel stages the meeting of different social groups and the conflicts that emerge from this meeting, questioning the forms of materialization of hatred. The article concludes with some proposals for analysis within the scope of national literatures and comparative methodology.
