Abstract

Objectives: Considering how important physical activity is on the health profile of teenagers girls, this study aimed to compare the anthropometric and flexibility data of teen girls who practiced and who did not practice the Pilates method. Methods: Participated 28 girls, divided into two groups: the Pilates group (GP), who practiced the method of exercise, and the inactive group (GI), which made no regular physical activity. The anthropometric parameters and flexibility were evaluated in both groups, before and after the intervention period. Results: There was an increase of anthropometric variables in both groups, but the flexibility of the girls who practiced Pilates remained normal and, on the other hand, it was reduced in the physically inactive girls. Conclusion: This might indicate the effect that the Pilates method imposes on flexibility preservation in teen girls.
