Abstract

This article investigates the invention of landscapes in Olinda through the film "Praça do Terror", produced by 8-year-old children at a public school on the outskirts of the city, who develop narratives that explore the city of Olinda without resorting to stereotypes. The film addresses issues such as restrictions on urban mobility and the search for autonomy. The theoretical framework adopted is based on the notion of becoming-child by Deleuze and Guattari, as well as on the contributions of Walter Kohan. Deleuze's cinematic perspective is also explored, along with the contributions of Migliorin and Pipano in the field of cinema-education. The methodology adopted was named “cartographic-artistic-educational” experience. In the end, it is suggested that Olinda, traditionally known on a global scale through the eyes of the colonizer, emerges here as a territory of invention based on images, unfolding into stories of emancipation anchored in children's experiences. Thus, the city is presented not only as a historical heritage, but as a space permeated by diverse affections.
