Creativity in Mathematics: identification and promotion of the creative talents

In the last years, the academic researches on the field of Mathematical Education have increased significantly in Brazil, permitting the diffusion of theories and practices that can contribute to the improvement of teaching quality. However, this production is still incipient when it refers to creativity. This paper, therefore, discusses the importance of promoting the development of creativity in Mathematics and it presents creative students’ potential characteristics in this area, aiming at the identification of creative students by the teachers, who have to address them for activities in their interest areas. Furthermore, this paper presents some strategies that can be used with all kind of students and aiming to develop the creativity in the mathematics field.Downloads
