Implementation of an educational project involving african culture: pedagogical proposal and applicaction

The present paper reports and analyzes the stages of implementation of an original educational project based on themes of african culture. The pedagogical principles of horizontality, legitimacy, and complementarity are introduced and discussed. The project aims to recover, update and disseminate historical, cultural and linguistic aspects of the African matrices directly related to the people of the Recôncavo da Bahia and other Brazilian localities. Such initiative was motivated by field researches in African territory, during which a significant amount of up-to-date and relevant material was registered and collected, related to the Afro-Brazilian communities in general, regarding social and cultural life in the African regions visited. The methodology for the application of the courses related to these themes and open to the community is presented and developed. Given the unprecedented nature of the project, questions and doubts are raised and answered. The project was well received by the community and the reasons for this positive outcome are discussed.
