The complementary education in Araraquara-SP: an opportunity of restructuring the habitus for the popular class
Keywords:
Complementary education, Pierre Bourdieu, Habitus.Abstract
By the means of this article it is intended to submit and evaluate the importance of the Piaquara Complementary Education Center situated in the city of Araraquara. This institution was established in 1994 and it has been focused on assisting from 7 to 14 year-old children. The purpose of the pedagogical principle and the didactic procedures put into effect is to promote the acquisition of high culture. Based on the concepts of habitus articulated by Pierre Bourdieu, we consider that the Complementary Education Center through its cultural practices have been providing to the students an increase in their cultural capital, causing a reorganization. We believe that the pedagogical pattern adopted by this institution is quite suitable to the Primary Education, chiefly to the less privileged children.Downloads
