Interculturality and pedagogical practice: building paths

The cultural differences theme brings nowadays various configurations which cause tensions, intolerance and discrimination reactions; likewise, it raises actions guided to work this cultural differences in a perspective that promotes affirming democracy, mutual respect, accepting difference and construction of a society where everyone can be a full citizen. We place ourselves from this perspective and we believe in the intercultural education potential to “reinvent the school”. This is a work referred to the research untitled Human Rights, Education, Interculturality: building pedagogical practice, carried out from March 2012 to February 2017.It focus the construction of an intercultural perspective able to mobilize educational practice that aims to a critical education which horizon is to reinvent the school. We have structured the text in four sections. The first one presents an approach to the theoretical reference, centered in the contributions to the theme of Interculturality development in Latin America and in the aspects of Boaventura de Sousa Santos’ thought. The second one presents the building process of an “alphabet” about education and interculturality, idealized and built under the direction of Adriana Fresquet of Cinead Group of The Education College of UFRJ. The third section presents some articulations and relations from a selection of some entries, concepts/categories of the “alphabet” and its contribution to the development of intercultural pedagogical practices in our context, especially in school. Finally, we outline some considerations about the thematic.
