Abstract

The study analyzes the education offered to the people who work and live in the rural area, in the course of educators’ formation organized by Unioeste, campus of Francisco Beltrão - PR. The planning and the implementation of the referred course started many discussions among the professors, searching for transparency to guide controversial subjects that accompanied the process of elaboration of the proposal of the course: the curriculum to be adopted, the specificities of the countryside and the singularities of the active educators’ formation in the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (MST). The research was conducted with six university professors and MST. Among the university professors, the ones who work at the course of formation agreed about the importance of forming educators committed with the fight of people that live and work in the rural area, offering guarantees to the specificities without losing the education formation as a universal characteristic, but respecting culture, identify formation, values maintenance, ideology and the region itself. The study still points the need to continue researching the theme of the education of the rural area, as a result of the many doubts that still worry the educators, those from Unioeste and acting in the social movements as much as the classmates, who are teachers at the field and are looking for higher education.
