Abstract

This article approaches the issue of school burnout – failure, indiscipline, violence, conflicts, etc – but it does not do this by questioning the causes that provoke it, but the pedagogical means that can transform its worst consequences. To achieve it, the idea of recognition is presented as a way to improve the interpersonal relations and school climate. Besides characterizing the ways of recognition – affective, communicative and cooperative – the work is centered in the affective relation and does it by studying interpersonal encounters. Based on an approach of ethnographic nature, a presentation of the distinct forms of encounter that we detect in the school classes is carried out : encounter to help with the construction of knowledge, of manifestation of affection and care, and of formulation of corrections and reproaches. From this findings some considerations are made about how the educational relationship should be in order to achieve greater improvement in the school climate.
