The inclusion process of children with special healthcare needs in preschool

Abstract

Aim: to describe the experience of preschool teachers in the process of inclusion of children with special healthcare needs. Method: qualitative research developed from a focal group with ten teachers from a nursery school in a municipality of Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil. The data were submitted to thematic content analysis. Results: the results pointed out that these teachers are not prepared in their training education to act with these children. Also, the social and health services support network for the professionals and to the school is fragile or nonexistent. Conclusion: the experience of teachers of early childhood education with these children is permeated by challenges such as weaknesses in their professional formation and the interaction with the family and with the health services.
