Objective: To raise awareness about the indicators of care for pregnant women in a city in the state of Rio Grande do Sul through the Program for Humanization of Prenatal and Birth, emphasizing the process indicators available in SISPRENATAL, as well as to recognize the practice of nurses in the Family Health Strategies of this city. Method: documentary and exploratory descriptive study, with a qualitative analysis approach. The study is composed of the data of the pregnant women in SISPRENATAL and the interviews with the nurses. Results: the study identified inappropriate indicators of prenatal care, as well as inconsistency between the nurses’ discourse and data of the system. Final considerations: although the nurses reported that it is easy to work with the Program, records in SISPRENATAL are low and there is possibly flaws in the notes of pregnant women in the system, causing financial loss to this city and difficulties in the assistance.
