This paper presents, considering the perspective of the History of the Linguistic Ideas, a discursive analysis of the production conditions of the didactic work of Frei Caneca (early 19th century), pointing to part of the meaning process that establishes a Brazilian allowance to speak about its language. Therefore, it seeks to understand the meaning affiliations of the grammatization process of the Brazilian language in a particular cutout: saying about rhetoric – an authorized and unauthorized place of speaking well.Downloads
