The red- spectacled parrot, Amasona pretrei (Temminck, 1830) can reproduce in captivity. The bird cage must be large enough so that the coupling and reproduction behavior can be as much as possible similar to the natural environment. The coupling and reproduction behavior can be as much as possible similar to the natural environment. The couples should be kept away from the ground levei. The nest must have dimensions that allow the female to lay the eggs and the incubation as well as protection for the nestlings while they are in the nest. The immature phase lasts approximately two years.
