This article presents a methodology used in the classroom, entitled “Haiku on Twitter”. Article is justified by discussing a method to science that have the text as protagonist; and by inserting in the discussion involving the relationship between teaching and research. Conceives method for the notion expressed by Roland Barthes, which meant that when the research deals with texts, the result is not presented by a text, but it is in itself. In the experimentation, realizes relations and differences between haiku and Twitter. Finally, experience shows that when haiku productions that social network's own haiku characteristics are accentuated; that because Twitter, like haiku, characterized by immediacy, speed and impersonality.
