Abstract

According to the social constructivist approach, an understanding of science must take into account not only science itself but also take into account an understanding of society. Contemporarily, this becomes clearer once we face actual instances, such as the problem of the (future or ongoing) tragedy of global warming. The aim of this paper is to show that state of affairs such as global warming cannot be understood only from science or society, but through the relationship between them.

Marcos Rodrigues da Silva, Universidade Estadual de Londrina

Possui graduação em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1994), mestrado em Filosofia pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul (1996) e doutorado em Filosofia pela Universidade de São Paulo (2003). Atualmente é professor adjunto da Universidade Estadual de Londrina e Bolsista Pesquisador da Fundação Araucária. Atua em Filosofia da Ciência, especialmente nos seguintes temas: realismo científico, história da biologia e ensino de biologia.
