The question of corporeality as an original and primary presence in the natural world is the main theme of this paper. In order to analyze such concept, we have mobilized the theories of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Simone de Beauvoir. Since it is our “anchorage in the world”, the body is what enable our experiences, such as political, social or even epistemological. However, precisely for being the means to insertion into the world, the body could also appear as a limitation of freedom, but this limit can only be seen negatively if we assume the position of an objective thought that cannot accept the ambiguity as a part of the incarnate experience. Finally, from the perspective of potentialities and the limitations brought by both corporeality and the necessary interaction among beings in the world, we have reflected upon the women’s situation, mostly in Beauvoir’s work.Downloads
