To analyze which anthropometric indicators better predict high blood pressure (HBP) in adolescentes. Method: 202 school children participated in the study (51.5% male). Anthropometric measures of body mass, height and waist circumference were collected and also the blood pressure (systolic and diastolic). The area under ROC curve was used to verify the diagnostic power of the anthropometric indicators – body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), waist-to-height ratio (WHR) and conicity index (CI) – in HBP, in addition of their values of sensitivity and specificity. Results: The CI, with a cutoff point of 1.06, was the best predictor of HBP for girls. For boys, the BMI, WC and WHR, with cutoff points of 22.1 kg/m², 67.5cm e 0.44cm, respectively, are possible predictors of HBP, especially the WC. Conclusions: The CI for girls and WC for boys were the anthropometric indicators more indicated in prediction of HBP.Downloads
