This article aims to analyze the right to sexual and gender diversisty based on a comparative study of human rights protection systems at global and inter-American levels. It intends to answer the question regarding the possibility of a complementary dialogue between the systems for greater effectiveness in protecting human rights at the international level. For that, the qualitative method is applied with literature review, as well as document research about conference reports and resolutions on the subject, using the path since the entry into the agenda of international systems. Therefore, when using the expression of gender and sexuality, it is considered that the global system, which provides universal treatment to human rights, and the inter-American system, wich is geographically restricted to a location with its peculiarities, can interact simultaneously an complementary way to ensure a multilevel protection of individuals.
