We seek to elaborate a reflection about ‘the gaze’ that precedes the visual conception of the image in its language. From a comparative approach between painting and photography, the article aims to investigate possibilities to understand the way of construction of visuality and how it is established in this process, also addressing some of the subjective, technical and historical-cultural contexts involved in its materialization. In the brief exercise of thinking and problematizing this universe related to the conception of images, the article tries to evaluate if, at the same time, the photographic cameras can be shown as inducing agents of an automatic photographic act, which can interfere in the process or generate less particular aesthetic results in the visual conceptions developed by artists.Downloads
