Abstract

It is known that in Brazil, at the start of so-called First Republic, the public secondary school is not existed in all Brazilian cities, so the scheme was an internship option for young living within the country the State who wanted to attend the teaching secondary. The main objective of this paper was to seek to understand and explain the strategies of the state and the local church Catholic referred create operation of the Boarding Gynásio Paranaense (1919-1942).

Graduada em História pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1978), mestrado em História pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1983) e doutorado em História pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1996). Atualmente é professor associado ii da Universidade Federal do Paraná. Tem experiência na área de História, com ênfase em Memória História e Educação, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: disciplina escolar - história - ensino médio, ensino secundário- república - cultura escolar, ensino de história, disciplina escolar - história - formação de professor, ensino secundário e cultura escolar.
