Nurses’s work satisfaction in a university hospital

Aim: to identify the nurses’ satisfaction factors in a university hospital. Method: a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory survey with 15 nurses at a university hospital in northern Paraná. Data collection took place between November 2011 and May 2012 through a semi-structured interview and the lines were subjected to content analysis in the thematic mode. Results: one thematic category called satisfaction factors in nursing work. It presented seven subcategories: the remuneration and incentive by the institution, the workload, the teamwork, the recognition for their work, the autonomy and resolution to provide assistance, the care for the patient and the work at a public institution. Conclusion: identifying the satisfaction factors in nursing work may contribute to its maintenance or maximization in order to provide a better quality of working lifeDownloads
